In alignment and coordination with the Regional CEO & MD and Group SVP Corporate Finance and Business Development, the Head of Business Development, Americas Region will:

  • Create opportunities for the company through actions such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A), divestitures, and deals that leverage the value of the company’s business platform.
  • Help to shape the company strategy by identifying industry trends, maintaining relationships with relevant external partners, as well as sourcing, negotiating, structuring, and executing strategic acquisitions/investments across all the region and businesses.
  • Provide leadership in evaluating and executing new investment opportunities, partnerships/alliances, acquisitions, mergers, spin-offs, and joint ventures.
  • Support business development projects in Americas Region both M&A opportunities, greenfield and expansion of existing businesses.
  • Drive and delivering overall business growth strategies in terms Ports & Terminals, Logistics and Supply Chain, with focus on North America growth opportunities, working alongside the top executive team throughout the full acquisition process from sourcing through deal execution to ongoing integration efforts.
  • Lead other regional initiatives for protection and growth of existing businesses, on an ad-hoc basis as required.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES


  • Support Americas region growth strategy through identification, assessment and execution of potential mergers, acquisitions, investments, and joint ventures as well as divestitures by the company.
  • Provide leadership across the region’s business development & M&A activities from initial evaluation through deal execution to post-deal integration activities.
  • Deal sourcing, including managing key external relationships (e.g., investment banks and other channels).
  • Partner with business leaders before, during and after the M&A processes, to ensure the deals make strategic sense, fit with the forward-looking business plans, and are integrated smoothly and fully optimized.
  • Manage key deliverables including creating analyses, overseeing execution, and identifying next steps in process flow.
  • Support and coordinate the evaluation and review process for all major investments that supports the end-to-end provider solution to our customers. Collaborate with the approval process with Head Office, including securing sign-offs from all involved parties.
  • Identify new business opportunities that includes M&A in the Americas region, with priority focus in North America, aligned with business main strategy to become and end to end solutions provider.
  • Perform detailed due diligence review on all potential new business opportunities, develop business plans for any new potential projects, and secure approval from Head Office.
  • Assist in the negotiation of business terms for potential acquisitions and other private transactions and prepare bid strategies for tender processes.
  • Participate in all aspects of project financing, particularly related to market studies, competitive dynamics, etc.
  • Responsible for the management and leadership of an engaged team, promoting collaboration and ensuring that each is developed and evaluated against goals and objectives which are aligned, specific, measurable, attainable yet challenging, realistic and time bound.
  • Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviors in harmony with DP World’s Founder’s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 10+ years of experience of transactions experience in corporate development, corporate finance or M&A at a large corporation or investment bank.
  • MBA or relevant graduate degree from top-tier institution or similar academic / professional experience.
  • Significant experience in leading teams to execute all aspects of transactions including direct experience in M&A negotiation, execution, and integration.
  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor.
  • Ability to structure and manage complex cross-enterprise projects and processes with multiple stakeholders at both senior and junior levels.
  • Excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and writing capabilities; ability to clearly communicate compelling messages to senior managers and external business partners.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the supply chain management, legal and finance issues, commercial market fundamentals, and ability to create value through innovative continuous process improvement.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of payments and/or financial service industries.
  • Leadership skills optimizing business value and engaging with key stakeholders including potential partners, government officials, local agents and other trade players, and external advisors.
